Dental Services

When a dental cleaning is recommended for your pet, whilst under general anesthesia each tooth will be assessed as well as the entire oral cavity. We perform ultrasonic scaling as well as hand scaling to remove dental calculus. Teeth are then thoroughly polished. Additionally, we offer digital dental radiography (x-ray) to assess what may not be visible above the gum line.

Diagnostics

Our hospital provides various in-house diagnostic testing with the most state-of-the-art technology available. We offer digital radiography, which allows an immediate picture of “what’s inside” your pet. Ultrasonography is also used to give a more 3-D view of internal structures. We have digital dental radiography which allows us to look below the gum-line during dental procedures to evaluate the health of the teeth, bone, and associated soft tissues. Additionally, we offer in-house labs including complete blood counts (CBC), blood chemistry analyzer, urinalysis, and other “snap” tests when you need answers now. Our goal is to provide your pet with the highest level of care possible, and our diagnostic tools help us do that. Furthermore, we have access to a wide range of specialist practitioners for consults on those more challenging cases, all to ensure the best possible care for your beloved pet.

End of Life

Making the final decision for a pet is never easy. We offer humane euthanasia counseling and end of life services to make parting with your best friend as safe, peaceful and Fear Free as possible. We work with a local crematorium to provide both communal cremation as well as private cremation options.

Exams And Consultations

Our staff will take the time to speak with you and assess any concerns you may be having with your pet. We will also review diet, preventative medicine, body weight, and exercise to ensure your pet is as healthy as possible. Dr. Beal will then perform a complete physical exam on your pet and address any questions you may have as well as point out any potential issues. We recommend at least once yearly physical examinations – more often as they age – not only to have a baseline in case your pet becomes unwell but also to allow us to tackle any challenges early. Our goal is to catch problems promptly before they become major ones. The sooner that we are able to address problems, the better the chances for a successful outcome! “Because when they hurt, we hurt.”

Laser Therapy

If your pet is feeling pain, has inflammation, or has a wound, NEVCC also offers a sterile, pain-free, surgery-free, drug-free treatment. Laser therapy (also known as photobiomodulation, or PBM therapy) is used to treat various injuries, wounds, fractures, neurological conditions, numerous dermatological problems, and pain. Whether your pet is rehabilitating from trauma or injury, healing from wounds, or simply aging, the laser has been shown to provide relief and speed healing. Microchipping

This service is a great idea to ensure you are reunited with your pet should you become separated en route. Every year, thousands and thousands of pets go missing. Not knowing where your pet is or how to bring them back can be a helpless, hopeless feeling. Microchipping is a standard procedure that implants a tiny chip underneath your pet’s fur. It is a painless and relatively fast procedure and is completely safe. This microchip is registered with your pet’s vital information and can be scanned by any veterinarian or animal shelter so that they can return your pet directly to you. Nutritional Counseling

Obesity is a common problem among pets, as it can be easy to over-feed a pet that knows how to beg. But being overweight is a serious problem for animals, and can cause real health problems as they get older. With proper diet and exercise, all pets should be able to meet their dietary needs and be within a healthy weight range.

Pet’s nutritional needs change as they enter different stages of their lives. The best way to make sure your pet’s needs are being met is to consult with us about a diet made specifically for his or her lifestyle.

Oral surgery

If dental extractions are necessary as noted during an oral examination or following radiographic analysis, we are fully equipped to perform routine oral surgery using state of the art equipment including a high-speed drill as well as traditional dental tools. Following extractions, we use a class IV laser to help accelerate healing.

Pharmacy

Here at NEVCC, we offer not only a fully stocked on-site pharmacy but the convenience of our online pharmacy to meet your pet’s prescription needs. Having an on-site pharmacy provides you with a convenient way to get your pet’s medication while visiting us. Our online pharmacy offers increased flexibility in obtaining not only your pet’s prescriptions but refills and prescription diets as well. We hope this will save you time and ultimately enhance your experience with us.

Surgery

We believe in utilizing the highest level of medical technology, and Dr. Beal is experienced and highly trained. We also realize that it can be stressful to have your pet undergo surgery. We want to assure you that your pet is in good hands and that we will do everything to provide the best care possible. We will communicate with you about what you need to know before, during, and after your pet’s surgery. It is our goal to make the entire process go smoothly and to eliminate the stress and worry of surgical procedures.

Travel Health Certificates

Planning to travel with your pet? Need a health certificate for travel or relocation? Dr. Beal is a USDA-accredited veterinarian and can provide necessary certificates for both domestic and foreign travel. Because this process may take some time, it is advisable to plan ahead. Airlines may have additional requirements so it is best to check with them as well.

Vaccinations And Preventatives

There are a variety of diseases that can affect our pets and other animals. Some of these may be transmitted to people; we refer to these diseases as zoonotic. We make recommendations for vaccinations based upon the potential for exposure of each individual pet and their owners to these diseases, as well as current regulations outlined by law. Likewise, we base our recommendations for preventatives – like heartworm prevention and topical and internal parasite control – based upon the exposure risk in our geographic region for both animals and humans.

After-Hours and Emergency Care

As a single-doctor practice, we are limited in our ability to respond to emergency care requests and after hours requests. For emergencies outside our regularly scheduled hours, we recommend you contact Ocean State Veterinary Specialists; they can provide 24-hour emergency care seven days a week. Once emergency care is rendered, their staff will share all required information with Dr. Beal to ensure the highest quality of ongoing care.
