When people get sick or suffer an injury, they go to the doctor, describe their symptoms and receive the appropriate care. With pets, it’s not always this straightforward. Because animals can’t speak, they can’t always alert us when something is bothering them.
What’s more, many animals are very good at hiding the signs of illness, allowing it to develop and worsen undetected.
Veterinary diagnostics allow us to identify and treat health problems in a timely manner. Faster diagnosis of illness and injury can significantly improve the chances of a positive outcome.
Laboratory
The on-site diagnostic laboratory at Northeastern Veterinary Care Center makes it quick and efficient to run a wide variety of tests. In many cases, we can have the answers we need in just minutes. This means we can have a treatment strategy in place before you and your pet even leave the exam room.
Imaging
When a physical exam and lab testing aren’t enough to reach a diagnosis, we turn to advanced imaging technology, including x-rays and ultrasound. These tools enable us to evaluate the bones and internal organs, identifying injuries, diagnosing illness and determining its severity.
Digital images can be analyzed by our doctors in real-time or shared electronically with specialists if necessary.
